Celebrating Champions and Community

Members of the community lined Washington Avenue last Wednesday as they gathered to celebrate and honor the 2025 4A State Champion Lady Crusader girls basketball team. Young players from the Wellington Recreation League led the parade followed by the Wellington Middle School girls basketball team, The Big Red Machine Wellington High School marching band, Crimson Dancers and the WHS Cheerleading squad.

BPA Students Compete At State, Five Qualify For Nationals

Wellington High School students in the Business Professionals of America (BPA) program competed in the State Leadership Conference last Thursday and Friday, showcasing their skills in business, finance, technology, and leadership events. Thirteen WHS students placed at State, with five earning a spot at the National Leadership Conference in Orlando, FL, on May 7-11.

Jefferson Park Improvements

Wellington Park & Cemetery staff are working on the Jefferson Park playground expansion, which will feature three new pieces of inclusive playground equipment. Crews are preparing the area for the installation of pour-in-place surfacing, funded by a Kansas Waste Tire Grant.
