Free Flight In Memorial

Students from across the country gathered in Wellington last Friday to practice flying aircraft in Memorial Auditorium. They were preparing to compete in the “Flight” event category of the 39th Annual Science Olympiad National Tournament being hosted at Wichita State University the following day. The nearly 30 foot high ceilings in Memorial provided the ideal environment for the two-member teams to test their free flight rubber-powered aircraft. Free flight model airplanes are designed, built, and trimmed to fly without user intervention once they are launched.

Remembering Randy Redford

Family, friends, coworkers and community members have found themselves with a hole in their hearts since April 17th when they lost one of the city’s most notable and memorable city employees. Shower Markkel With Cards

As previously reported, Wellington resident Markkel Bradley remains at Meadowbrook Rehabilitation Hospital in Gardner, KS. On the positive side, he is making strides towards recovering from the damage caused by the COVID-19 virus that put him in a coma last August.

BOE Meeting May 2023

No patrons were present to speak at the beginning of the May 8th BOE meeting. Jeff Porter, Wellington City Manager was present to discuss the task force committee for updates made to the athletic facilities at Sellers Park.
