The gusty Kansas wind blew in guests from around the region to attend the Stand Up For Rural America Regional Forum held at the Kansas Star Event Center April 4th & 5th. Over 200 economic development directors, entrepreneurs, developers, city officials, city planners and those committed to improving rural America convened in Sumner County.

Mexican Pot Roast 2 pound chuck pot roast 1 tablespoon oil ½ cup chopped onion 1 clove garlic, chopped fine or pressed 2 jalapeño peppers, chopped fine 1 can (4 oz.) chopped green chilies ½ cup beef broth ½ teaspoon chili powder ½ teaspoon ground cumin 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper De-fat and cut meat into chunks. Put the meat in the bottom of a crock-pot, add all of the other ingredients.

The BNSF Railroad crossings at “G”Street and Jefferson Ave closed beginning April 6th and will remain so for two to three weeks. During that time, Washington Avenue and “H”Street crossings will also be closed for track maintenance.
Last Thursday, the Wellington Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a Business After Hours & Ribbon Cutting celebration to welcome KanOkla to the community. Jill Kuehny, KanOkla President, cut the ceremonial ribbon along with Chief Operating Officer David Nance and Erma Ratliff, Sales & Development Coordinator, numerous other staff members, city representatives and local business owners.

Last week, the Lincoln Elementary 5th Grade classes performed Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare, as adapted for children by Marilyn Nikimaa. All of the props, set backgrounds and costumes were made by the 5th Grade students.
