The Sumner County Historical and Genealogical Society invited Michelle Enke, Manager of Special Collections, Advanced Learning Library at the Wichita Public Library and recent winner of the 2023 HS Genealogy/History Achievement Award to speak about the research materials that are available to those searching for their family history.

WHS Students Qualify For BPA Nationals

Six WHS students in the Business Professionals of America program have qualified to attend the 2023 National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, CA, April 26 – 30. The students who achieved this honor are; Jacob Hershey - Broadcast News Production Team event, Jensen Lynnes - Basic Office Systems & Procedures event, Rome Hunt - Legal Office Procedures and Business Law & Ethics events, Braezy Taylor - Broadcast News Production Team event, Anna Ewing - Ambassador Torch Award and Harmonie Micciche - Broadcast News Production Team event.

Testing Ductwork

Milt Robinson, City of Wellington Custodian and Barry Dicker, Principal Investigator (PI) for Sumner County’s “Building Technologies Proving Ground – Public Sector Field Validation” and President of Decent Energy, Inc. conducted a leakage test of the duct system at City Hall last week.

Volunteers Clean-Up!

Last Saturday, the community clean-up event organized by Erma Ratliff and Amber Sheppard ran like a well-oiled machine. Between 7:30 - 10:30am, more than 75 vehicles filled with over 10 tons of items for recycling or disposal drove to Sellers Park.
