Beautiful Theo came in from a hoarding situation and was very timid at first, but after taking some time to decompress, he is doing wonderfully! Theo is currently hanging out in one of the cat colonies playing with other cats and welcoming visitors and volunteers. He loves other cats and is such a handsome guy with a sweet personality!
It seemed only fitting that our newspaper photographer, Rhonda Newberry, was able to capture this beautiful bald eagle in Wellington a few days before the community celebrated Veterans Day. The bald eagle has been a national symbol for the United States since 1782.
The Wellington American Legion held their annual Veterans Day presentation at the Wellington High School auditorium on November 11th, 2022. The auditorium was filled with students, families and veterans there to pay tribute to those that have served this country.
Hundreds of music lovers descended on Wellington Memorial Auditorium Saturday night to celebrate the venue’s 100th anniversary. Some came from as far away as Kansas City and Oklahoma City to see country music star Logan Mize perform along with local Makayla Brownlee and Wichita area band Road 23.
Voter turnout in Sumner County was not as high as one would hope with just 7,803 voters reporting to the polls. That means less than 50% of Sumner County voters, 45.69% to be exact, exercised their right to have their voice heard.
