A nice crowd came out to support Brown Box Bakery’s official ribbon cutting ceremony at their charming retail shop “Good Things” located at 509 South Washington in Wellington. Patrons were treated to the delicious cupcakes the company is most well known for, along with cheese, chocolate and other yummies.
WHS 2015 graduate Austin Pfalzgraf successfully passed the Kansas bar examination and was sworn in as a Kansas attorney on September 30th, 2022, in the Georgia Neese Gray Performance Hall at the Topeka Performing Arts Center.
Wellington Area Local Transit (WALT), has been providing reliable and affordable transportation in the Wellington community since 1986 and they have recently added some new features. The transportation service is available for patrons of all ages and anyone aged 8 and older can ride without an adult.
Who doesn’t love a good spooky story? Especially during this time of year as the days get shorter, temperatures drop and ith Halloween just a few weeks away. The Library’s Spooky Story Contest is underway and providing the ideal opportunity to put ‘pento- paper’ and tell your own terrifyingly good tale.
It’s been a few years since a farmer from Sumner County won the Kansas State Fair Market Wheat Show. This year, Galen Lowe from Caldwell was proud to bring home that honor.
High school sophomores from Wellington, Caldwell, South Haven, Argonia, and Conway Springs experienced some “real-life” financial situations in a dynamic 75 minute exercise called Realty U. Impact Bank has sponsored the Realty U financial literacy program for five years.
Suffering a tremendous personal loss led Lori Barnes of Caldwell, KS to fight to become the voice of a young man that was lost too soon. As part of those efforts, she is bringing the non-profit National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) South Central organization to Sumner County, providing resources that can save lives in our community.
Saturday’s beautiful fall weather provided the perfect setting for members of the community to gather in Woods Park with local law enforcement for a picnic of hamburgers and hotdogs. The Sumner County Sheriff ’s Department and the Wellington Police Department brought in vehicles and displays as well as bounce houses to create a fun and informative atmosphere.
Austin Lloyd, Manager Special Projects for the Sumner County Economic Development Commission joined the conference panel addressing “Renewables and Sustainability Options for Businesses and Communities; General Session: Public and Private Sector Perspectives” at the 2022 Kansas Renewable Energy Conference.
