Lawn Mower Fire Safety

Lawn mowing can cause fires when weather conditions are hot and the grass is dry. Be sure to remove any dry grass that gets packed in the mower deck as that can result in a lawn mower catching fire.

Time To Apply For Preschool!

This year, Futures Unlimited has expanded their pre-school program and is working in collaboration with the Wellington School District to provide preschool at Kennedy Elementary. Kids who turn 3 or 4 before August 31, 2022 are eligible for the preschool program.

Ceiling Tile That Captures Heat

As local temperatures remain in the upper digits, the project Sumner County is conducting with The U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Building Technologies Proving Ground – Public Sector Field Validation, has begun with the installation of passive thermal energy storage ceiling tiles in the Wellington City Hall building.

The Heartland Emmy Goes to…

The talented film-makers from Kansas! The Wichita Eagle won its first Emmy at the Heartland Emmy awards ceremony held July 16th, 2022 in Oklahoma City. The Eagle’s documentary entitled, “Once Was Lost: The 70-Year Search for Father Kapaun,” won the Documentary Program: Topical category.
