Community members gathered for a “Hard Hat Tour” of Community 101 to help raise funds for the Heritage Plaza park project. Located in the former Woolworth store at Washington and Harvey Avenues, Community 101 provided the perfect setting for discussing future park plans.

A Bright Future for Sumner

Sumner-Cowley Electric Cooperative shared their newest collaboration with the community as they dedicated their 891 kW/DC solar array. By harvesting the power generated from this solar farm, Sumner-Cowley will be able to reduce their peak load, while providing stable rates to their members.

A Historical Election For Kansas

The coming election on Aug. 2nd, 2022 will be historical on several fronts. Generally, the party primary is held to determine which Republican and Democratic party candidates will run in the state’s general election on Nov. 8th, 2022. However, this election is open to libertarian and unaffiliated voters as well, due to the special Kansas consti tutional amendment that is also on the ballot.

Weather permitting, beginning Tuesday, July 5th and continuing through the week, South Central Sealing & Paving will begin applying mastic sealant in the following areas in Wellington: 1700 and 1800 Blocks of West Edgewood Drive 16th Street, from Edgewood Drive to Crestview Road Coyote Ridge addition Wheat Ridge addition Crestview Heights addition During this project, please help out the crews by not parking over wide cracks along the streets in these areas. Mastic seal is a hot-applied, polymer modified, asphalt mixed with specially designed aggregate and modifier combinations, chosen to properly fill wide cracks and defects.

Wellington Humane Society: Pet of the Week

Jane is our Pet of the Week! Rescued from a kill shelter, we are giving her a much deserved 2nd chance for her own family! Jane is a mixed large breed and weighs 46 pounds. A young adult, we like to say she is a mixed breed of cuteness! She has been to events with us, did well with the public and enjoyed the car ride. She also does well in a crate. Aahn a Train

About twenty Aahn’s Place kids got out of the summer heat and enjoyed a “cool” ride on a passenger train courtesy of the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway (BNSF). The BNSF “Employee Appreciation Special’’ passenger train made a stop in Wellington on its multi-city journey to greet and thank BNSF employees and their families.
