Sumner City, The City that Almost Was, Pt 1

When you mention Sumner City most people either say - what was it, where was it, or what happened to it? The first building erected in Sumner County in 1865 was the log ranch house of Degola and Caddo, which was used as a stock waystation and trading post along the Chisholm Trail. This was where Jesse Chisholm or other travelers on the trail could stop, exchange horses and get a few supplies before moving on.

WHS Commencement 2022

The well-attended graduation ceremony of the Wellington High School Class of 2022 took place in historic Seller’s Park at 2pm, Sunday, May 15th. Honoring their Class Motto, “We cannot sail new oceans until we gain the courage to lose sight of the shore.” The students enthusiastically shared their achievement with family and friends.
