Cowley Student Living Sneak Peek

The Student Living Center located on the Cowley College Sumner Campus is nearing completion and will be ready for students to move in Fall Semester, 2022. Situated on the south side of the Schurtz-Juden Loop, the Center has sixteen, single occupancy, suite-style rooms and an additional suite for the Dormitory Manager.

Young Eagles Soar in Wellington

A beautiful Saturday morning spent flying in the cloud free blue sky. That was the memorable experience provided to 54 young people at the Wellington Municipal Airport by volunteer pilots with the Chisholm Trail Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA). One special needs boy and his grandmother shared the experience of aviation as Steve Turner, a volunteer EAA pilot, took them on an unforgettable flight.

Tiffin Meyer wins Golden Apple Award

Tiffin Meyer, 4th Grade Teacher at Kennedy Elementary in Wellington, received a Golden Apple Award from KAKE for her inspirational and creative classroom programs. The award recognizes local teachers for supporting, motivating and encouraging a lifetime of learning. Update from Sumner Economic Development

How Does Sumner County Economic Development Commission Help Grow Communities? A strategic plan for Sumner County was prepared in 1991 with funding assistance from the Kansas Department of Commerce and Housing. Five years later, the Sumner County Commissioners updated this plan with support from the Sumner County Economic Development Advisory Committee, and Sumner County and City staff to include funding for the creation of an organization tasked with implementing the recommended actions contained in the combined strategic plans.
