Hamlin Earns Place in Kansas Aviation Hall of Fame

Local entrepreneur, pilot, master restorer, and aviation advocate Richard “Rick” Hamlin will soon add another accolade to his long list of achievements: this fall, he will be inducted into the Kansas Aviation Hall of Fame. The 2025 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place Tuesday, October 14, at the Kansas Aviation Museum, with keynote speaker Retired Lieutenant General Michelle Johnson, former Commander of McConnell Air Force Base and Superintendent of the U.S.

In the months since, personal stories, historical photographs, and old newspaper clippings have resurfaced—many shared among those who remember the family’s deep roots in the community.

Symphony in the Flint Hills Plays Final Refrain

Miles down a gravel road marked “X”, singing, laughing and music filled a tallgrass prairie pasture Saturday afternoon as the Symphony in the Flint Hills hosted its "Grande Finale" with an afternoon of music, educational talks and nature walks and culminating with concert by the Kansas City Symphony, featuring Clearwater native Logan Mize. By evening, almost 8,000 people were all standing in front of the bandshell as the magic of the music and the Kansas sunset washed over them.
