Victory Bridge Preview

As the Wellington High School Crusader football team gears up for the 2024-2025 season, the annual tradition of painting the Victory Bridge over Hargis Creek is in full swing. This year’s design, led by senior Greer Buchanan, honors the Crusaders’ previous State championship victories. Greer is joined in the effort by fellow students Goran Djurovic, Rogan Wetta, Taylor Earl, Brylee Johnson, Axl Norris, and Cayson Ramirez. The freshly painted bridge will be ready for its first crossing prior to the home game against Andale on Friday, September 13th.

USD 353 Hosts Open Houses

Last Thursday evening, Wellington elementary schools, the middle school and high school all welcomed students and parents for their annual Back To School Open House. Kids located their classrooms, met their teachers and practiced opening their lockers.

Pet of the Week

Sundae is a beautiful, 1½ year old that came into the shelter with her kittens. She was a wonderful mom and her babies are currently being adopted out. It’s her turn! Sundae is easy-going, enjoys lounging, pets, cuddles, and playtime. Be sure to “scoop up” this adorable girl before she’s gone! Stop in this week to meet Sundae. We are open Wednesday through Friday 3-7pm and Saturday 10am-2pm. If you are interested in adoption, please complete the online application before you come in to speed up the adoption process. We go in order of application received, so the sooner you get in your application, the better! Sundae’s adop- tion fee is $10 o during her special week - plus the Clear the Shelters discounts!

Youth Join Polling Efforts

Voters in Sumner County headed to the polls last week to participate in the local Primary Election. Upon arrival, they were greeted by election poll workers who checked their identification, escorted them to a voting booth, and supervised the secure deposit of their ballots.
