The 33rd running of The Great Race will be held on Saturday, July 27th, in South Woods Park, located at 1110 West 4th Street in Wellington. This year, 10 teams will compete for the coveted “Depot Cup” in this unique, one-of-a-kind race.
Hometown girl Annette Lawless added two new pieces of hardware to her collection last Saturday evening, July 20th, at the 2024 Heartland Emmy Awards in Oklahoma City. Lawless was honored in the competitive “Community Service” category for her outstanding work on the ongoing series “Missing In Kansas,” which raises awareness about missing persons from the state.
The 124th Kansas Wheat Festival Parade filled Washington Avenue in historic downtown Wellington with nearly 60 entries, including antique cars and tractors, colorful floats, dancers, Crusader cheerleaders, and so much more.
The Wellington Daily News teamed up with Rainbows United and the Wellington Airport to host the Kansas Wheat Festival Paper Airplane Contest last Saturday afternoon. Despite steamy temperatures and gusty winds, competitors of all ages enthusiastically took to the skies!
At the previous “To the Stars: Kansas Business Awards” ceremony, Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland shared his personal journey back to Kansas. While honoring businesses and individuals last fall, he challenged attendees to actively recruit talent back to the state.
