A MESSAGE FROM THE SUMNER COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT

The Sumner County Health Department was established in the 1950’s for the purpose of immunizing citizens against communicable diseases. Today, the organization has evolved to provide Sumner County residents with comprehensive, cost-effective, and quality public health resources through a variety of services that support women, infants, children, adolescents and family preventative health.

Bi-Weekly Community Coffee

The Sumner County Sheriff’s Office hosts “Coffee and Conversation”every other Wednesday morning at 9am. Local residents can meet and chat with a sheriff ’s deputy, detective, or other members of the command staff in a relaxed setting.

Southern Kansas SWAT Team

Originally known as the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Team or S.E.R.T, the team adopted the name Southern Kansas SWAT in 2009. Tactically trained and specially equipped, the team is a highly skilled law enforcement unit established to reduce the risk of injury or loss of life to citizens, police officers, and suspects.

Pet of the Week

Valentina came to us with her tiny adorable kittens! She was a wonderful mother and most of her kittens have now been adopted. She is barely an adult herself at just over a year old. Valentina has a wonderful personality, is soft and sweet and ready to meet you! Stop in this week to meet Valentina! We are open Wednesday through Friday 3-7pm and Saturday 10am-2pm. If you are interested in adoption, please complete the online application before you come in to speed up the adoption process. We go in order of application received, so the sooner you get in your application, the better! Valentina’s adoption fee is $10 o cats during her special week!

Safety Tips From Electric Town

Sumner-Cowley Electric Co-op., Inc. provided Chamber Coffee attendees with a demonstration of their new Electric Town safety exhibit during last Thursday’s meeting. Jordan Creed, Director of Operations, and Mitch McComb, Field Staking Technician, guided the audience through a number of electrical safety scenarios during the brief presentation.
