Smokey wasn’t dumped, and he wasn’t abandoned, he was a well-loved cat that sadly came in due to an aging owner. The beauty mark on his left ear is just a birth defect. He came in with his sister Melody and his whole world was turned upside down.

Adventure Found At The Library

The Wellington Public Library kicked off their “Adventure Begins at Your Library” summer reading program with an exciting event last Thursday. The outdoor lawn was bustling with activities, including a booth from the Sedgwick County Zoo. Guests enjoyed making chalk art, blowing bubbles, playing yard games, music, and more. A popular highlight included side-by-side car racing on a mega-sized race track.

Chamber Hosts Swag Design Contest

The Wellington Area Chamber of Commerce teamed up with Wellington High School to host the “Wellington Swag Student Design Contest,” aimed at creating images for various types of merchandise. The winning students and their designs were unveiled during last Thursday’s Chamber Coffee.

Handpan Dan At Family Night

Daniel Baird, the talented handpan musician also known as “Handpan Dan”, set the festive tone for the recent Family Night dinner at Homestead of Wellington. Approximately 100 guests were treated to the delightful combination of homemade Mexican cuisine and the enchanting sounds of this unique instrument.

It’s Oreo’s time! He has been with us now for 540 days. Pulled from death row at a kill shelter, he's about 2 1/2 years old, a large mixed breed and weighs 50 pounds. When you first come in, you might notice that Oreo can jump, but once you get him out, he is a gentle boy. When you sit down, he wants to sit near you or on you if you let him. He really is a love bug! It's easy to overlook dogs like Oreo because of their kennel behavior. But, we urge you to get to know their real person alities outside the shelter kennel.
