As part of the Railroad Crossing Elimination(RCE) Program, the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Railroad Administration announced that the City of Wellington was awarded up to $8,864,725 in federal funding for grade-crossing closures and the construction of a grade-separated highway overpass on the BNSF Southern Transcon Main Line.

JUNE 7, 2023 In the early 1900’s, the Wellington Ice Plant and Cold Storage business on South G Street helped local residents stay cool by producing 30 tons of ice every day. The problem? Ice melts, so homes and businesses during that era needed a new block of ice delivered to them each day to keep things cool.
