The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks has released their 2023 Kansas Upland Game Bird Forecast which is compiled from data collected during the Department’s spring calling surveys for pheasants, quail, and prairie chickens, as well as late-summer roadside surveys for pheasants and quail.
In preparation for the upcoming solar eclipse this Saturday, October 16th, the Wellington Noon Lions Club delivered solar eclipse glasses to all four USD 353 Elementary Schools on Monday. Thanks to their donation, each elementary student will be able to safely view the eclipse with their own personal pair of these special glasses.
Doodle and his siblings were rescued from the local pound. He is a 5-month-old labrador mix, playful, very sweet. He can’t wait to find a family to love him forever! The last of his siblings to get adopted, he wanted us to tell you that we have saved the best for last! Doodle is fully vetted, fixed, up to date on his vaccinations, and microchipped.

About midway through Spanky Entertainment’s Dueling Pianos show in Memorial Auditorium last Friday, Spanky shared that the last 24 hours had been rough. While traveling to Wellington, the duo spent the night in Kansas City and nearly all of their equipment had been stolen.

The Fly Kansas Air Tour came through Wellington about noon last Friday and the pilots were greeted by local 4th grade elementary students. The windy weather may have adversely impacted the total number of aircraft that flew in that afternoon, but 18 airplanes traveled from Great Bend to Wellington before continuing on to Hutchison and Salina.
As the weather becomes more fall-like, the trees will undergo their vibrant transformation displaying their colorful hues of orange, red and yellow. Those looking to take a drive and see this spectacle first hand will be excited to learn that they don’t have to travel to New England for the experience.
