Introducing Ace Finch
Please join us in welcoming Ace Finch to our community as well as the Wellington Daily News team as our new Sports Reporter. Originally from Council Grove, KS, Ace is passionate about small town sports.

McCorkle Ranks Top 10 Nationally
Cole McCorkle, WHS 2023 graduate and FFA member, competed in both District and State FFA competitions last year which earned him a #1 ranking in the state of Kansas. This outstanding achievement qualified him to compete at Nationals where he secured a Top 10 National Proficiency ranking in Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance.

What’s this?
While we are on a cool coin kick, the currency pictured last week was a 1915 silver Barber Dime. The Barber dime shares the same obverse (front side of the coin) with a quarter and half dollar.

Open House for USD 353
Students, parents, guardians, and siblings visited classrooms, located bathrooms, dropped off supplies, tried out their locker combinations and basically did a pre-run in advance of classes which began last week.

BOE Meeting – August 14th, 2023
The Board of Education meeting began with six Discussion Items on the Agenda. Wellington based radio station KLEY proposed a partnership with USD 353 last month and returned to this meeting with an information packet outlining the language for a one-year agreement.
