Heroes In The Sumner Show Ring

For eight years the Sumner County Fair has provided a unique experience for those that might not otherwise have an opportunity to show an animal at the fair. The Herding Heroes program, organized by Heidi Theurer, Sumner County Fair Board Member and City of Wellington City Clerk/Finance Director, pairs a 4-H or FFA member with an individual of any age with a life challenge.

Rock and Roll At The Fair

The 96th Sumner County Fair’s theme was Rock ‘N Roll, and the parade was all about the music, and tractors, lots of tractors! Mark and Kathy Schmidt, Sumner County Fair Board President, served as Grand Marshals. A1 Members of the Wellington community including local 4-H and FFA members exhibited their livestock, flowers, crafts, vegetables, artwork, photography and other divisions.

Pretty In Pink

Last Friday night, Barbie fans from across the county, as well as nearby counties, dressed up in their favorite shade of pink and gathered at the Wellington Regent Theatre. The owners of local fashion and home décor boutique Bay & Brielle, Co.

The City Battles Mother Nature

Recently, it’s seemed like Mother Nature’s wrath has been a little more focused on Wellington than we all would have preferred. Temperatures in the triple digits, damaging 70 mph winds and blue-green algae impacting our water supply have kept City staff operating around the clock.

City Council Meeting

Audience Participation began with Jan Grace, Campus Operations Officer at Cowley College Sumner Campus providing the Council with an update. Enrollment on the Sumner Campus is at 102, up from 74 this time last year.
