Recently meeting with experienced straw builders, I couldn’t help but recall the classic tale of the three little pigs, where the house made of straw famously didn’t stand the test of time. Intrigued by this age-old lesson, I delved into the concepts behind this new, yet traditional, method of construction.
Exuberant youngsters and their families gathered on the lawns of KanOkla in Caldwell last Saturday morning for an egg-citing Easter egg hunt! Kids joyfully filled their baskets with colorful eggs, each one brimming with candy and prizes. The Easter Bunny was also there, spreading cheer and posing for festive photos.
After starting the season 0-3 and losing a game to Ark City 14-7 earlier in the week, the Wellington baseball team picked up their first two wins of the season against the Andale/Garden Plain Indians last Thursday.
Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve had several Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters refuel at the Wellington Municipal Airport. This helicopter is a four-blade, twin-engine, medium-lift utility military helicopter that’s really exciting to watch fly in.
The Wellington softball team slid to 0-4 as they lost two games to Andale/ Garden Plain. The Lady Dukes were outscored 38-10 over the two games against the hard hitting offense of the Indians.
The Wellington golf team starts their season on April 1 with a tournament at Crestview Country Club. The Crusaders have 10 golfers on this year’s team, gaining four additional players over last year.
The Wellington baseball team opened their 2024 campaign on Monday, March 18th, with a scrimmage against Clearwater and Campus. The WHS bats showed up, pitchers threw a couple of innings and coaches worked on various base running situations.
Wellington enters a new era in softball today, March 2st, against Rose Hill as Hannah Shuck Lawlis takes the reins as head coach. It’s also her first game serving as a head softball coach at the high school level.
