Lady Crusaders Notch Two More

Last Tuesday, the Wellington girls basketball team dominated a Circle team that came into the game with an impressive 10-3 record, holding Circle to only five points in the entire second half. “Our defense was very active and caused Circle confusion,” said WHS head coach Eric Adams.

BOYS DUEL ANDALE AT HOME

The Wellington boys wrestling team took on Andale in a dual last Thursday. Eight seniors were honored with their parents on Senior Night: Elli Franke, Aubrey Hunt, Deighlynn Lea, Isabelle Cullens, Kayden May, Jackson May, Derrick Lowe and Talan Cantrell.

JV Basketball Update

The Wellington JV boys basketball team is 10-6 on the year with Skylar Branam leading the team in scoring. “They’re a good group of guys who do the little things and enjoy playing together,” said Wellington head JV coach Chad Whaley.

Crusaders Beat Augusta

The Wellington boys basketball team found a way to win a gritty, gutsy battle against Augusta Tuesday night led by Nolan Russell who put up 17 of the Crusader’s 48 points. “Nolan has the ability to take a game over with his size and ability to shoot,” said boys basketball head coach Joe Newman.

Wellington Hosts Powerlifting Invitational

The Wellington powerlifting teams hosted their sixth annual Wellington Invitational last Saturday morning. Wellington came out on top in all three divisions. The men’s division, consisting of juniors and seniors, scored 245 team points. The junior men’s division, consisting of freshmen and sophomores scored 352 points and the women’s team scored 264 points.

Elementary Students Celebrate Kansas Day

On Monday, January 29th, Kansas marked its163rd birthday, and the occasion was celebrated at both Eisenhower and Washington Elementary Schools. Guided by 4th-grade teacher Vanessa Sawyer, students at Eisenhower’s 4th grade took on the role of instructors, imparting Kansas history and knowledge to the Kindergarten and First Grade classes.
