The Wellington High School Crusader Overwatch Esports team made an impressive showing at the Electronic Gaming Federation (EGF) High School National Championship last weekend in San Antonio, Texas—earning a third-place finish. Last March, global aerospace and defense aftermarket solutions company AAR completed its acquisition of Triumph Group’s Product Support business in Wellington. As the local facility marks 60 years of operation, AAR — headquartered in the Chicago area — is celebrating its 70th anniversary.
Following the senior recognition ceremony, the spotlight lingered on the field at Hibbs-Hooten as the senior players stayed behind to help their first base coach, Dakota Rodd, with what appeared to be one last photo op. But as Coach Rodd dropped to one knee, the signs the players were holding suddenly flipped over to reveal a surprise message: “WILL YOU MARRY ME?” Isabella “Izzy” Metzen, completely unsuspecting, had been lured onto the field under the pretense of snapping a picture of the players.

Cowley College recently announced a tuition policy update that benefits students living in Sumner County. Beginning with the Fall 2025 semester, Sumner County students will pay the same tuition rate as Cowley County residents.
A free online course focused on work zone safety has been launched for Kansas drivers. The Kansas Work Zone Safe course is designed to teach teens and other new drivers how to safely navigate through construction zones.
