LINDLEY EUGENE LAWLESS

Lindley Eugene Lawless, of Belle Plaine, Kansas, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 8, 2024, at the age of 80. Lindley was the son of Emmett Lawless and Lorena Anthony Lawless, born November 27, 1943. He graduated eighth grade from Mount Zion, then graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1961. He worked on the family farm before he enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1964. He was an expert marksman and gunner every year he served. While in the military, he met the love of his life, Minnie Jane Pruitt. They were married on October 1st, 1967. After being honorably discharged in 1969, he returned to the farm. He was passionate about farming and served as a member of the Soil Conservation Service. Lindley was a lifetime member of the Belle Plaine Church of Christ. He served as a deacon and as an elder. For 30 years he loved driving the Joy bus taking children to church and taking the youth group to social events. He always enjoyed visiting with family and friends. During his retirement years, Lin and Minnie traveled to Hawaii for their 30th wedding anniversary. They visited the Florida Keys and traveled on Route 66 and many other places throughout the US. He was preceded in death by his parents Emmett and Lorena Lawless; sisters Vona Jean Bates, Ethelyn Quiqley, and Theda May Wylie; brothers: Ernest Shipman, Johnie Lawless, and Gary Lawless. Survivors include wife Minnie Lawless, daughter Teresa Lawless Aurell, son David Lawless (Joi), son Mark Lawless (Karla), eight grandchildren; brothers LaVerne D Lawless, Donald E Lawless, and sister Shiley A Shetlar. Memorial services for Lindley will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Belle Plaine Methodist Church. Graveside will follow at the old Belle Plaine Cemetery. WILDA OLETA HAWKINS

Wilda Oleta (Wallace) Hawkins was born on May 18, 1928, in Beaver County, Oklahoma to Floyd and Myrtle Wallace and passed away in Wichita, Kansas, on February 4, 2024. The family moved to Wellington, KS, in 1936 after surviving the Dust Bowl. Wilda graduated High School in Wellington, KS, class of 1946. After graduation, Wilda moved to Wichita, KS, and pursued her education at the Wichita Business School. After graduating, for the next three years, she worked as a secretary for Boeing Aircraft Company and then as a secretary for the City of Wichita. Wilda married Hal Wilbanks Hawkins, of Wichita, KS, on September 4, 1949. She worked hard to put Hal through Seminary and upon completion, they began their career together as minister and wife. In 1960 they began their Navy career and embarked on their worldwide travels. In 1967 they returned to civilian life and moved to Neodesha, KS, serving the First Baptist Church. In 1969 they moved to Wichita, KS, and served the Old Manor Baptist Church during which time Wilda also worked as a secretary and bookkeeper/payroll at Quiring Mortuary. Wilda always served God and family first and joyfully supported her husband in his ministries as a Proverbs 31 woman. Wilda loved to play the piano and organ. She often played for church services. She also gave accordion lessons. Her favorite bible verse was John 3:16. Wilda is survived by her daughters, Darlene (Juan) Jaime and Deborah Neal; nephew, Troy (Jenny) Wallace; grandsons, Joseph (Cynthia) Kinnis, and Jeffery (Miranda) Jones; granddaughter, Sarah (Vince) Kennebeck and great-granddaughter, Baile Kennebeck. Also, she is survived in marriage by a grandson, Caleb Neal; great-grandchildren, Isacc & Cindy Aquirre and Aubrey & Dylan Kennebeck; niece, Suzanne Powell; nephew, Mark Powell and sister-in-law, Nancy Hawkins.

PATRICIA E. FROST

Patricia E. Frost, age 82, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Wellington Health and Rehab. Pat was born on April 27, 1941, in Wichita, KS to Orville Eugene Barry and Beatrice (Tennant) Barry. She was raised in Wellington, KS, and was a graduate of Wellington High School in the Class of 1959. She married Jimmie R. Frost on September 27, 1959, at the First United Methodist Church in Wellington. Through the years, Pat worked as a clerk for the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railway and at Panhandle Federal Credit Union. She was very artistic and her many hobbies included ceramics, sewing, quilting, painting, and other arts and crafts over the years. Pat also enjoyed volunteering as a “Pink Lady” at Sumner Regional Medical Center. Throughout their marriage, Pat and Jimmie enjoyed many travel and outdoor activities with their family and friends including camping, fishing, and cooking out. Family was very important to Pat, and her greatest gift was being a loving wife, mother, and “Nana” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially liked spending time with her family on holidays and attending all of their various activities. After her retirement, she and her husband enjoyed being “winter Texans” for 15 years traveling annually with a group of dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Carolyn Heasty. Survivors include her loving husband of 64 years, Jimmie Frost of Wellington; daughter, Kim and Steve Janney of Wellington, KS; son, Scott and Eve Frost of Katy, TX; and son, Shawn Frost and Barbara Patton of Wellington, KS; sister Shirley and Allen Weber of Wellington, KS; eight grandchildren, Kayla Janney, Nicholas and Paige Janney, Steven and Sarah Frost, Cheyenne Frost and Tristan Langley, Charlie, and Jackson Frost, Christopher and Joshua Frost; seven greatgrandchildren, Cohen and Hayden Janney, Emery, Jayce, Elena and Jax Frost, and Lillian Langley. Lucious Homer Hutchinson, known to all as 'Hutch', passed away late Thursday evening, March 28, 2024 at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. Hutch was born the son of L. Homer and Elizabeth (Farley) Hutchinson on June 18, 1954 in Wichita, Kansas. His father passed away when Hutch was a young man, his mother eventually married JD Webster, who loved the family as his own.

Elmeree Oliver, 98, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023 at Homestead Assisted Living of Wellington, KS. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 17, 2023 at the Oxford Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4-6 P.M. Thursday, November 16, 2023 at the Oxford Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wellington American Legion, donations may be left in the care of the Oxford Funeral Service. Della Elmeree Oliver was born on the family farm north of Oxford, KS on February 20, 1925 the daughter of Elmer C. and Della (Prothro) Kleier. On January 18, 1945 Elmeree was united in marriage to P.C. Oliver. They lived in Oxford and owned Oliver Furniture and Mortuary until 1991. Elmeree and P.C. retired and moved to Santa Fe, NM for 15 years before returning to Wellington in 2006. She was a member of the Soldanella Club, American Legion Auxiliary, numerous bridge clubs, the Oxford Methodist Church and the Presbyterian Church of Sante Fe. She sang in church choirs for many years. Elmeree loved spending time with P.C., family activities, dancing, and singing in the choir. Elmeree is survived by her children: Ginny Butts (Bill) of Wellington, Gerry Oliver of Oxford, and Brian Oliver (Elizabeth) of Joseph, OR; 6 grandchildren: Jason Butts (Bridget), Adrienne Rader (Brian), Adam Oliver (Tammy), Aaron Oliver (Denise), Dama Chrisman, and Megan Oliver (Chad Huber); 11 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-greatgrandchildren.
