Richard Leon Hendricks was born in Anthony, Kansas on December 29, 1925 to Burns and Carrie Hendricks and passed from this life on October 19, 2022 at the age of 96. Richard Leon Hendricks was born in Anthony, Kansas on December 29, 1925 to Burns and Carrie Hendricks and passed from this life on October 19, 2022 at the age of 96. Richard grew up on his parent’s farm south of Capron, Oklahoma where he worked with them and later in life took over the farming business. It was during this time, he met his first love, Wenonah King whom he married on August 3, 1945 and loved faithfully until her passing in 1982. To this marriage 4 children were born, Wanda, Dewayne, Lonnie and Susan. It was on this farm that he and Wenonah shared their lives, raised their children and later it was where his grandchildren and great grandchildren played, explored and built memories that have lasted a lifetime. On September 8, 1984, Richard was happily united in marriage to Monica Ricke whom he was fortunate to share his life with until her passing in 2011. With his marriage he added to his family Robert, Vicky, Annette, Alice, Barbra, Helen, Jeff, Terry and Janet. Richard also had many grandchildren and great grandchildren that he loved and cherished as his very own. His gentle soul and loving spirit impacted each one uniquely. Richard served oversees during WWII for the United States Army until he was honorably discharged in 1948. After returning home, Richard continued his work on the farm as well as worked as a carpenter for a brief period. Richard was also a member of the Lions club, the American Legion and was a volunteer firefighter with the Capron Fire Department. Even after leaving the area, he continued to volunteer to prepare food and help serve at the annual Capron Fire Department Thanksgiving dinner. John Hugh Chapman, age 55, of Wellington, Kansas, passed away peacefully in the final week of September, 2022. Born October 27, 1966 in Wellington, he was the son of Harry D. and Alice (Hart) Chapman. John was raised and received his education in Wellington, graduating from Wellington High School in 1985. John was a man passionate about work and education. When not working, he enjoyed time with close friends and listening to music. John made huge impacts on the growth and development of several companies in the Wichita area, including Cessna and its parent company Textron Industries, before taking his talents around the world to implement those same ideas for other companies. He will be missed, but remembered for all of the good he did while he was here. John is survived by his son, Andrew Chapman and his wife Brianna of Paola, Kansas; sister, Barbara White and her husband Robert of Wellington, Kansas; brother, David Chapman of Winfield, Kansas; brother, Mike Chapman and his wife Gretchen of Newport News, Virginia; brother, Danny Chapman of Yakima, Washington;

Melvin “Kendall” Brundage, age 90, of rural Argonia, KS, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away at Wellington Health and Rehab on October 2, 2022. Kendall had worked as a Quality Control Inspector for Plessey Midwest for over 35 years. Kendall was born on August 21, 1932 in rural Milan, KS to Bert Brundage and Bertha A. (Pearce) Brundage. He was raised in the Milan and Argonia area and was a graduate of Argonia High School. He was a life time farmer, a devout Christian, and a loving family man who was always kind, gentle and caring. He enjoyed spending time with his family and gardening. He married Patricia A. Landreth on December 28, 1955 in Wellington. Kendall was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Irvin and Eldon; and three sisters, Nina, Norma, and Merlene; and one grandson, David Hayward.
