In Wellington’s first tournament of the season, the girls tennis team finished in second place at their home invitational, scoring 18 points. Goddard-Eisenhower won the event scoring 27. Buhler scored 14 and Wichita Independent scored zero.
The Wellington girls golf team teed off their season last week at Carey Park in Hutchinson last Thursday. The tournament was a pre-state invitational with the best 16 teams in 4A competing.
Wellington High School alum and former cross country runner Connor Walker is beginning his sophomore season at Cowley College. For the second consecutive year, Walker will be competing as part of the Tigers cross country team which finished 11th in their regional meet last season.

Sport sampling is the practice of young athletes participating in multiple sporting activities while spending extra time in what they consider their main sport.
