The Wellington Heat were upset by the Mulvane Patriots in the first round of the Kansas Collegiate League Baseball tournament last Friday night. As the higher seed, the Heat was the home team and this loss meant this game would be their final at Hibbs-Hooten for the season.

Mayfield’s traditional men’s summer fast-pitch tournament was held last week and the team from Anthony went home with 1st Place. Wellington’s Tijuana Taxis placed 2nd in this fun filled event that is just as well known for its delicious hamburgers.
The Wellington Heat started their week last Monday with a 17-4 win over the Wichita Farmers. The Heat scored three in the 2nd inning to jump out to a 3-0 lead.

The 3rd Annual Clyde Jenkins Memorial Baseball tournament was held last weekend in conjunction with the Kansas Wheat Festival. A portion of the proceeds from the tournament directly support the Wellington Baseball Association.

The Wellington Sailfish hosted their Annual Sailfish Swim-A-Thon to help raise funds to purchase team gear and other expenses in support of the swimmers. The team will be competing at Districts this week.
