This week, Wellington High School volleyball coaches are conducting the WRC Volleyball Camp, with over 30 high school players working with 25 of the 7th and 8th graders. Volleyball Head Coach Mandy Zeka-Ramos expressed her excitement as she watched her high school players interact with the younger athletes.
The Wellington Sailfish began their summer swim season with an away meet at Derby on June 4th. The swimmers made it to the 16th event before the storms rolled in and forced officials to stop the competition and reschedule the remaining events for June 27th.

For most Wellington student-athletes, the sports season has ended. All except for athlete Charlee Craig, who competed last Saturday in the Challenge Games paralympic track meet in Derby.
The Wellington High School baseball team had eight players awarded with AVCTL All-League honors last week. In a record breaking year that included achieving the most runs scored in a season with 193, all eight players will return next season for the 2025 campaign.
The Wellington High School Track and Field Team qualified an impressive 24 athletes to compete in the 2024 4A Girls & Boys State Track & Field Meet, held May 24 and 25th at WSU’s Cessna Stadium. Freshman Dru Zeka’s top place finishes in the high jump and 400-meter dash, plus her 5th Place finish in long jump helped the Lady Crusaders’ point total as the team finished 6th overall.
Summer-like temperatures and intense storms aren’t the only things heating up in Wellington! Our local Kansas Collegiate League Baseball (KCLB) premiere summer team the Wellington Heat returns to action in 2024 with an away game against the Haysville Aviators this Sunday, June 2nd. Heat players reported to coaches yesterday and started practice today.
