
Boys Golf Hosts Home Invitational
The Wellington boys golf team started last week competing in the Andover Invitational on Monday. The team shot +53 and finished seventh out of 15 teams.

The Wellington track team competed in the Pratt invitational last Friday and the Dukes had athletes with multiple top three finishes in the event. Sophomore Cooper Hatfield had a very big day finishing 2nd in the 100 Meter Dash with a new PR time of 11.32 and winning the 400 Meter Dash with a new PR time of 51.31.
Wellington’s #1 singles player Senior Hunter Worley took 5th Place at our home Invitational. The Wellington boys’ tennis team competed in their own invitational last Friday afternoon.
Alara Wilson swam in Winfield’s home meet last Tuesday which included teams from Independence High School, El Dorado High School, Coffeyville Field Kindley High and Labette County High School. The Winfield Vikings won the meet which was held at Southwestern College.
The Crusader track team under the guidance of head coach Tim Lira traveled to Clearwater for their first meet of the season. Other participating teams included; Bluestem, Cheney, Classical School of Wichita, Clearwater, Conway Springs, Medicine Lodge, Wichita Warriors Home, and Wichita-Concordia Academy.
After starting the season 0-3 and losing a game to Ark City 14-7 earlier in the week, the Wellington baseball team picked up their first two wins of the season against the Andale/Garden Plain Indians last Thursday.
The Wellington boy’s tennis team started their season last week at home. They hosted a quad taking on Goddard, Augusta and El Dorado.
The Wellington softball team slid to 0-4 as they lost two games to Andale/ Garden Plain. The Lady Dukes were outscored 38-10 over the two games against the hard hitting offense of the Indians.
Last Tuesday, WHS freshman Alara Wilson continued her swim season as part of the Winfield Vikings. The team won the meet at Campus High School by a landslide 90 points.
Last Thursday, March 21st, the Wellington baseball team started their 2024 season off losing a couple of close games against Rose Hill. The Dukes fell to the Rockets 1-0 in Game 1 and 8-5 in Game 2 of their double- header.
