Ashley Shuck, the Director of Community Relations and Marketing Coordinator for Aahn’s Place, recently orchestrated an exciting beginner’s Pickleball Clinic at the Armaan Foundation Activity Center.The event aimed to introduce newcomers to the sport on the center’s indoor courts.
Practice started this week for the WHS baseball team, as they gear up for their Home Opener on March 26th. Players will be participating in a Hour-A-Thon Fundraiser this Friday, March 1st to help raise funds for several large equipment purchases.
After losing to Collegiate 61-40 earlier in the week, the Wellington boys basketball team looked to improve their play against Andale Friday night. The Dukes competed hard and shot well on Senior Night but came up short in their regular season finale against Andale, whom they had previously beaten earlier this season.

After losing at Rose Hill last Tuesday, the Wellington boys basketball players ended their week on a high note with a blowout win at Clearwater last Friday. The effort was led by a huge second quarter from Dusty Bannister.
After demolishing Rose Hill 65-21 earlier in the week where they led 30-3 at halftime, the WHS girls basketball team faced a tough challenge at Clearwater on Friday to end their week in a tight battle. The Lady Dukes were in an unusually tight contest in the first quarter. For the first time all season, Wellington’s pace got matched and Clearwater’s zone gave the Crusaders fits.
The Wellington boys wrestling team is sending four wrestlers to State after each qualified over the weekend at the Regional meet in Andale. Talan Cantrell, Cayson Ramirez, Derrick Lowe and Jamar Armstrong all placed fourth in their respective weight classes to qualify for a trip to Salina.
Last Saturday, the WHS Crimson Dancers competed in the 5th Annual Innovative Dance Classic (IDC) competition held at Newton High School. For the 5th year in a row, the Crimson Dancers won the IDC Social Media Challenge portion of the competition.
The Wellington boys basketball team allowed 40 second half points, suffering a 30-point defeat to Circle last Tuesday in Towanda. Dusty Bannister scored the game’s opening basket, but Circle rattled off eight straight points.
Last Tuesday, the Wellington girls basketball team dominated a Circle team that came into the game with an impressive 10-3 record, holding Circle to only five points in the entire second half. “Our defense was very active and caused Circle confusion,” said WHS head coach Eric Adams.
