Cornejo and Rome Swim Season Update
For Wellington Crusader, Ralphie Cornejo, swimming has always been something he’s loved. After swimming competitively for the Wellington Sailfish in elementary school, he knew he wanted to swim in high school.

Crusaders Battle the Vikings
In last week’s contest between the Wellington Crusaders and the Winfield Vikings, Wellington jumped out to a 7-0 lead thanks to four points by Morice Ayers, including a rare jump shot, and a three from Nolan Russell.

Boys Win First League Game
The Wellington boys basketball team split their meetings with Rose Hill and El Dorado last week in League play. They lost to Rose Hill Tuesday, but traveled to El Dorado Friday where they picked up a win.

WHS Grapplers Compete Around The State
Wellington varsity boys wrestling competed in a dual meet against Hillsboro/ Canton Galva in the Marion County Duals Tournament last Friday. The Crusaders lost 43-42 in a tiebreaker scenario after being tied 42-42 at the end of the dual.

Lady Crusaders Set New Scoring Record
The Wellington Girls basketball team picked up a pair of victories against Rose Hill and El Dorado last week, scoring an impressive 84 points against the Wildcats. Rose Hill held the Lady Crusaders in check for over three minutes before getting a basket.

WHS Boys Win Cheney Tournament
Coming off a 61-53 win over the number four 3A team in the state, Wellington advanced to the Championship game of the Cheney Invitational Thursday night with a win over Pratt in Wellington. A defensive slugfest ensued early in the first quarter.

Girls Take Third In Cheney Tournament
The Wellington girls basketball team bounced back after a loss at Cheney last Monday with a win over Pratt at home in the Cheney Invitational. Wellington jumped out to an 11-3 lead in the first quarter which forced a Greenback timeout.

WHS Boys & Girls Wrestling Dual and Home Invitational
The boys wrestling team had a dual last week against Augusta.The Orioles won the dual 63-15.Three of Wellington’s wrestlers got victories. Cabel Bogguss got the first Crusader win.

Another Season Opening Win
The Lady Crusaders opened their 2023-2024 season at home last Friday night with a victory over Mulvane. It was Wellington’s fourth straight season opening win.
