The Wellington boys wrestling team started their season with a triangle facing Mulvane and McPherson last week. The Crusaders picked up three wins when they faced Mulvane.
Wellington’s starting quarterback, Dusty Bannister was named co-offensive Most Valuable Player of the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League. As voted on by the coaches, Bannister, a junior, joins Owen Eck of Andale and Hudson Ferralez of Collegiate as co-MVP’s.
Senior Aubrey Hunt had never put on a wrestling singlet before her sophomore year at WHS. Unfortunately, that first year she ended her season with a disappointing record of 12-17.
The Wellington High School cheer and dance teams were invited to compete in the 2023 KSHSAA Spirit Game Day competition held in Topeka. Members of the Crimson Dancers include: Maggie Dry, Kate Haines, Gabrielle Cramer, Cameron Gore, Aspen Hall, Whitney Zeka, Sadie Camblin, Randee Raschke, Kira Worley, Mallory Dry, Bailee Havner, Natilee Larkin, Aleena Rinehart and Piper Weber.

Last Friday night, the Wellington Crusader football team turned the ball over five times in a loss that ended their season in a playoff matchup against #1 seed Wamego. “I thought we played well defensively,” said head coach Jeremiah Meeks.
