
WHS Sends 17 Track & Field Athletes to State
Seventeen WHS track and field athletes qualified for the KSHAA State Track and Field meet last week at the Class 4A Regional. As a team, the girls placed 4th and the boys placed 6th.

The WHS Boys Golf Team became the Class 4A Regional Champions for the third year in a row at Ulysses last week. The Crusaders had three individual medalists.
Head Coach Ryan Jenkins said sometimes the game just doesn’t go your way even when you play well. That was the case for the WHS baseball team at the Class 4A Rose Hill Regional Tournament last week.
Cooper Hatfield never gave competing in the 400 meter dash a second thought in middle school. Now, as a freshman in high school, Hatfield has earned the opportunity to compete at State in one of the most difficult races to run in Track and Field.
The WHS softball team ended their season last week with a tough 9-8 loss to the Clearwater Indians in the first round of the Class 4A McPherson Regional Tournament. The Lady Crusaders ended their season with a 9-12 record.
The WHS boys tennis team placed seventh as a team at the KSHAA Class 4A State Tennis Tournament. Senior Jax Cornejo made history as the first player ever to qualify for State three years in a row.
Crusader athletes were honored at Settlers Stadium on the evening of May 3rd. The Crusader Club provided the meal and WHS Athletic Director Elly Johnson acknowledged and thanked the Club for their support throughout the year.
The Lady Crusaders softball team finished out their regular season on May 8th against the Mulvane Wildcats. Wellington dropped both games to Mulvane 11-1 and 11-8.
The WHS boys and girls track and field team competed in the AVCTL IV league meet at Andale last week. Both teams took 4th Place overall. The highly competitive meet had a number of stand out performances from Wellington athletes.
The WHS baseball team ended the regular season by splitting with the Mulvane Wildcats. The Crusaders lost 6-1 in game one but bounced back and won game two 4-3.
