
Double Victory for Track
For the first time this season, both the WHS boys and girls track teams took home first place. Both varsity teams competed at the Chaparral Invitational on May 5th.

The WHS boys golf team placed 10th at the Eisenhower Invitational on May 4th. The Crusaders scored 399 team points.
The WHS girls softball team hosted senior night against the El Dorado Wildcats last week. The team has two seniors on the roster who are a pitcher and catcher duo.
Looking for some fun weekend plans? Crusader fans can head to Pratt, KS to watch the KSHAA Class 4A Boys State Tennis Tournament. The tournament takes place May 12-13 at the Pratt-Walter Tennis Complex.

Last weekend, 33 baseball teams and their families came to Wellington from Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma to participate in the 5th Annual Wheat Capital Classic. A bit of rain early in the weekend didn’t damper the excitement as the WHS baseball team and coaches managed the entire tournament event.
A WHS Crusader and Kansas State Wildcat legend passed away last month at 93 years of age in Manhattan, KS. Ernie Drew Barrett was born in Pratt, KS but graduated from Wellington High School in 1947.
Wellington High School Senior Jensen Lynnes has a few more opportunities to qualify for the KSHAA Class 4A State Meet in Topeka. Lynnes swam the 100 Meter Freestyle at Campus last week and placed 4th.
The WHS boys baseball team completed its second sweep of the season against the Clearwater Indians on Monday. Previously, Wellington swept Andale in March.
The WHS Crusaders boys tennis team took 1st Place as a team in Chanute. This is the tennis team’s second time 1st place finish this season.
