The Crusader baseball team opened up their 2023 season with a double header at home against the Rose Hill Rockets. In game one, the Crusaders lost a close 1-0 game.
WHS senior Jensen Lynnes joined the Winfield Girls Varsity swim team on March 25th to compete in the Wichita Northwest Invitational. The Invitational hosted 19 schools and 337 participants. The Vikings placed 3rd overall.
Senior Zoe Dawdy will continue sharing her school spirit next year as a Jet with Newman University. She signed her letter of intent to join the Newman Cheer and Dance Team in a ceremony attended by her WHS teammates and staff, dance coaches, friends and family.
The Wellington High School Baseball team and coaches spent Spring Break preparing for the 2023 season which opens this Thursday, March 23rd, at 4pm on Hibbs-Hooten Field. The baseball team got in a full week of practices and workouts in Arizona along with taking in a few spring training games.
The Wellington High School girls softball season opens tomorrow against the Rosehill Rockets 4:30pm, at Worden Park in Wellington. WHS 2nd year head coach Brittanee Knepper, welcomes back key returning players as well as a few freshmen that likely see some time on the field this season.

Each year, members of the Wellington High School Crimson Dancers vote to select who they think most well represents the organization in the following categories: Team Spirit, Showmanship, Rookie of the Year, and Most Valuable Dancer. The awards issued for the 2022-2023 season include: Sadie Camblin - Team Spirit Award This award is issued to the dancer that most encouraged their teammates and stayed positive all year.
When both the girls and boys basketball teams qualified for State for the first time in school history, the students, teachers, parents and community all rallied behind them. Everyone hoped the magic would continue beyond Game 1, but it was not to be.
WHS student athlete Aubrey Hunt competed in the USAWKS 2023 Kansas State Folkstyle Championship held at the Stormont Vail Events Center in Topeka, KS and found herself at the top of the podium. Representing Wellington, Hunt won the High School Girls 190 Championship.
