
Boys Golf Qualifies for State
For the sixth consecutive season the Wellington boys golf team qualified for the state tournament. Last week, WHS competed at Willowbend Country Club in the 4A regional tournament hosted by Circle High School.

The Wellington baseball team competed in the Kansas State High School Activities Association Regional competition last week. They started the tournament in semi-final action against Clearwater High School.
The Wellington track team competed in the AVCTL Division IV Championships in Clearwater last week. The girls captured 3rd Place in league as a team, and the boys finished in 5th.
Wellington High School junior tennis player Maverick Peterson competed in the Kansas State High School Activities Association 4A state tournament over the weekend. As Wellington’s only qualifier, it was Peterson’s first trip to the state tournament.
Wellington Athletic Director Elly Johnson presented seniors Brittan Zeka and Brody Weir with the 2025 Outstanding Female and Male Athletes of the Year awards during the annual Wellington High School All-Sports Banquet. Coach Jeremiah Meeks also awarded Weir the prestigious Coach Giff Award, a longtime honor recognizing a senior football player who exemplifies dedication, leadership, and sportsmanship.
Boys Golf Finishes Third At League
This week, Sports in Kansas named Wellington High School senior Val Norwood 2025 Miss Kansas Basketball. She was also honored as the 4A Girls Player of the Year for the second consecutive season after leading the Lady Crusaders to their first-ever state championship win over Bishop Miege.
The Wellington tennis team competed in Regional action last week in Winfield. After getting close the last two seasons, Maverick Peterson finally broke through, finishing in fifth place, which earned him a spot in the KSHSAA 4A State Championship tournament.
The Wellington boys golf team competed in their final regular season tournament of the season at the Cheney Invitational. The Dukes finished the tournament with a team score of 330 which was good enough to put the team in second place out of 16 teams.
The Wellington baseball team traveled to Rose Hill to pick up two victories, extending their winning streak to six games over the last three weeks. The Dukes overpowered the Rockets scoring 24 runs in two games.
