The WHS women’s tennis team placed sixth at the Class 4A State tournament held at the Prairie Village-Harmon Park Tennis Complex in Kansas City. “This was a tough weekend with lots of tears. This team has become really close and we lose 9 seniors in all, and such a great group of girls,” head coach Brian Aufdengarten said. “These girls will be tough to replace.”
The cross country team competed at the Cheney Invitational in Cheney, KS with the Crusaders Men’s Varsity team placing second overall out of 10 teams with 74 points. Campus placed first with 54 points.
Lady Crusaders Volleyball beat Buhler for the first time this season at home in a triangular. They lost to Andale in their second match.
Women’s Golfers Set Personal Records, Win League Tournament The Lady Crusaders finished out regular season play by winning the AVCTL IV league women’s golf tournament at Hesston Golf Course. “The best thing about watching these girls this season is each tournament someone else has stepped up to lead the way,” Assistant Coach Vanessa Sawyer said.
Women’s tennis placed second overall at the Class 4A Regional. Wellington hosted regionals at Winfield.
The Wellington high school football team lost to McPherson 34-32 after a late field goal. CRUSADERS LOSE A HEARTBREAKER IN THE FINAL SECONDS The Crusaders were down 24-12 at halftime to the McPherson Bullpups.
The Crusaders only gave up eight points against El Dorado, a season low. “They played really well,” Meeks said.

The WMS Knights 8th grade football team is 1-2 after losing their game against Rose Hill by a score of 26-6. However, Head Coach Brandon Wilmoth said their record does not show how much improvement they have made this season.
Women’s golf received another top place finish at their last tournament at the Hutchinson Invitational. The Crusaders placed 4th out of 21 teams with Freshman Claire Ginter, Wellington’s top finisher, placing 8th in the tournament with a score of 83.
