
Track Competes at Circle
The Wellington High School boys and girls track team headed to Circle High School last week and came away with some outstanding results.

The Wellington baseball team used extra innings in Game 1 and a no-hitter in Game 2 to sweep Augusta last week. With the pair of wins over the Orioles, the Dukes have won three of their last four games after splitting with the number two team in 4A West Region, Mulvane.
On May 1, a total of 118 golfers from 19 regional high schools teed off at the Hesston Invitational. Wellington finished 6th as a team with 307 and Maize South winning the tournament with a 290.
Following the senior recognition ceremony, the spotlight lingered on the field at Hibbs-Hooten as the senior players stayed behind to help their first base coach, Dakota Rodd, with what appeared to be one last photo op. But as Coach Rodd dropped to one knee, the signs the players were holding suddenly flipped over to reveal a surprise message: “WILL YOU MARRY ME?” Isabella “Izzy” Metzen, completely unsuspecting, had been lured onto the field under the pretense of snapping a picture of the players.
Honoring the Class of 2025 Senior Spring Athletes
After an 11-day break the Wellington softball squad returned to their home field to take on Mulvane on their senior night. The Lady Dukes entered the evening with a 4-10 record on a four-game losing streak.
The Wellington track team competed in the Clearwater Invitational last week. The Crusaders and Lady Crusaders had multiple top five finishes in the meet with some individual Championships as well.
The Wellington boys tennis team competed in the Circle invitational with the Dukes finishing in sixth place out of eight teams. Wellington had 19 points, one point above Circle, and six points above Augusta.
The Wellington boys golf squad competed in a tournament hosted by Circle at Willowbend Golf Club in Wichita last week. Wellington placed seventh out of thirteen teams with a team score of 323.
