About 9,000 fans experienced a roller coaster Monday night inside Phog Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, where the University of Kansas hosted a watch party for the NCAA men’s basketball championship game in New Orleans.
NEW ORLEANS – The Kansas Jayhawks captured their sixth national championship in school history Monday night at the Caesars Superdome, topping North Carolina 72-69 in the National Championship game. The Jayhawks erased a 15-point halftime deficit to capture their second national championship under Coach Bill Self, outscoring the Tar Heels 47-29 in the second half.
Kansas has only trailed for about 24 minutes through its first four games in the NCAA Tournament, and in both its opener against Texas Southern and its regional final against Miami, the margin of victory was more than 25 points.

It might not have been the best season for Wellington in 2021, but the Crusaders are taking the right steps to become a better ball club as they enter the 2022 season. Last year the Crusaders finished 3-18, but over the course of the season, they got progressively better.
Last year, the Wellington boys golf team put together the perfect season. No, seriously, the Crusaders went undefeated in the regular season, won its regional championship, then won the Class 4A State Tournament in Dodge City.
After missing the 2020 track season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Wellington track and field put together a great 2021 season that included 13 state qualifiers and two champions. The Crusaders will be returning 10 of their 13 state qualifiers.
