WICHITA -- The last time Wichita State took on Kansas State you would have to go back almost 18 years ago on Dec. 10, 2003, as the Wildcats defeated the Shockers 54-50.
Basketball season is back in Sumner County and there are many athletes in the area that are expected to have big seasons. There are players that will see massive improvements, then there are others who will continue to provide entertaining basketball throughout the season.
WELLINGTON -- It was the start of the new season for basketball and the nerves might have been running through the Crusaders early in the game. Wellington was held scoreless for the first six minutes of the game, but once they broke their scoreless drought, the Crusaders were in complete control in a 57-39 victory over Mulvane (0-1).
WELLINGTON – The score might tell you that Wellington ran away with this game and that they were in complete control, but the Crusaders weren’t satisfied with their 48-17 win over El Dorado. It was another game for the Crusaders where their offense started off slow.
WELLINGTON -- After coming off a tough, heartbreaking loss on a buzzerbeater to Mulvane, the Crusaders were looking to get their first win of the season; however, they didn't come out with the same energy as they did Friday.
As the NFL heads into the final quarter of the season, now is when games start, in earnest, to become much more significant. And, as four teams – the New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs – are now tied for the best record in the AFC at 8-4, the margin of error becomes that much smaller.
WELLINGTON -- Last year, closing out games was a problem for Wellington, and they were hoping to get the monkey off their back with a new season. However, as the Crusaders held a nine-point lead with less than two minutes remaining, Mulvane began their comeback.
