Still Time to Enjoy Sunflower Summer!

This popular statewide initiative, sponsored by the Kansas Department of Commerce, gives school-age children and their families free admission to more than 200 attractions across Kansas — from animal encounters and water parks to museums, historic sites, and hands-on adventures. Locally, the National Depression Glass Museum and the Chisholm Trail Museum are among the many participating destinations.

Wind Project Delivers on Lighting Promise

Drivers traveling along Highway 160 at night may have noticed a darker sky - and more visible stars. As promised, Wild Plains Wind, LLC, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, LLC, has completed optimization of its aircraft detection lighting system (ADLS), significantly reducing the number of continuously flashing red lights atop its wind turbines.

Recycling Center Is Closed

Due to the closure of the International Paper recycling plant in Wichita, the City of Wellington Recycling Center will close effectively immediately and remain closed until further notice. We greatly appreciate the community's understanding and patience during this transition as we work to find suitable processors and end-users for the materials currently stored at the Recycling Center.
