The 11th Annual Movie-Themed Sidewalk Chalking Contest, held in front of the Regent Theater, featured a tremendous number of colorful and clever designs. The movie inspired artwork covered contemporary features like “Minions” and “Buzz Lightyear” as well as classics like “Singing in the Rain”.

Jared Brown Opens for Tracy Byrd

Jared Brown and the Dirt Road Misfits opened to a crowd of 300+ ready to enjoy a live music event in the comfy surroundings of Municipal Auditorium. Brown sang a mix of his own original music as well as cover tunes, including his own melodic take on Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here”.

Saturday Sock Hop

Wellington Community Theater board members Jamie YoNash and Mary-Ann Hennig helped coordinate and host an adult “Sock Hop” fundraiser full of oldies-inspired dancing, swinging music of the era, vintage attire, and a cash bar. Held at Memorial Auditorium, the fundraiser included themed costume and dance contests, as well as a large raffle basket for patrons to win.

Tyler Byrd and his band The Flock, shared their form of Red Dirt Music at the Regent Theater. An up and coming singer-songwriter from Noble, OK, his name may sound familiar as he made it to Round 6 of American Idol during Season 19.

The Mudbugs Cajun & Zydeco band, comprised mainly of Wellington natives, just hit a significant milestone. Their single “Jambalaya” has received over 1 million spins on Spotify, one of the world’s largest music streaming service providers, with hundreds of thousands more appearing on Apple Music, Google Play, You- Tube, TikTok and many others.
