Former U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman pushed for deepening relationships and maintaining international growth opportunities for Kansas farmers at a meeting of state political and agricultural leaders Wednesday.
The 7th Annual Wellington Fire Golf Classic teed off last Saturday at the Wellington Golf Club, and despite a rainy start to the day, forty-five teams showed up ready to compete in the community’s largest scholarship golf tournament. The weather didn’t dampen spirits as golfers played through the drizzle, supporting a cause that benefits local students pursuing careers in public safety.
The Wellington girls golf team teed off their season last week at Carey Park in Hutchinson last Thursday. The tournament was a pre-state invitational with the best 16 teams in 4A competing.
Wellington High School alum and former cross country runner Connor Walker is beginning his sophomore season at Cowley College. For the second consecutive year, Walker will be competing as part of the Tigers cross country team which finished 11th in their regional meet last season.
On August 15, Wellington lost longtime resident Geraldine Ann (Harris) McEachern. In many ways, her life exemplified a beautiful arc of individual achievement, devotion to family, and dedicated service to community.

As dusk settled over the city, hundreds of residents gathered around the water—some on lawn chairs and blankets, others sitting on truck beds or tailgates—ready to watch the sky come alive.
While many Wellington residents kept a close eye on the radar tracking the incoming storms last week, local artist Kris Putter saw something else—an opportunity. Putter set up his easel in Woods Park, eager to capture the beautiful light streaming through the clouds.
