What’s for dinner Sister?

Shredded Apple Pie 4 C of Shredded Apples (I like Fuji or Gala) 1½ C Sugar ½ C Whipping Cream 1½ tsp Cinnamon 1-2T Flour Mix all the filling ingredients together and throw into your favorite double pie crust recipe. Mine is the tried and true Double Crust recipe in the vintage Better Homes New Cookbook.

Ready for some information about last week’s mystery item? This hand-crank kitchen gadget has been in use for many years and some still use it today. It’s an apple peeler! Using the clamp at the bottom, you would attach the mechanism to a cabinet or table, put the apple in and crank away letting the paring knife do all of the peeling work.

Heasty’s Research Recognized

K-State University recently hosted their 10th annual Kirmser Undergraduate Research Awards by K-State Libraries and 2019 WHS graduate Reese Heasty’s group research project was recognized. The Kirmser award acknowledges undergraduate classmen for outstanding research on projects utilizing library resources.

Shakshuka (shuhk·shyoo·kuh) This is one of my newer vegetarian recipes and it can be paired with grilled chicken or even ground beef as a mix in for meat lovers. This meal is originally a traditional North African dish, this version is less traditional but still so good.

Swanky Swigs was the title used by Kraft Foods to describe the reusable glass containers that held Kraft processed cheese spread in the 1930s. Kraft Foods began an all-new marketing plan to sell their cheese spread in “re-usable” glasses.

Easy Apricot Lime Chicken

| Easy Apricot Lime Chicken | 4 garlic cloves, minced | 1C apricot preserves | Va C lime juice | IT soy sauce | 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts | IT vegetable oil | In small bowl, mix garlic, preserves, lime juice | and soy sauce, set aside. Cut chicken breast | into thirds, making nice sized chunks.
