Billy Bob “Bud” Thornton and The Boxmasters were about to take the stage in South Carolina at the first real honky-tonk on their “The 2024 Love & Hate Tour” when Thornton reminded me to emphasize that they are a “loud rock and roll band!”

Hitting that childhood nostalgia bone with another one! That color is none other than the iconic yellow of a Tonka product! As some things go, the company Tonka did not begin with toy trucks in mind. Founded in 1946, originally “Tonka” was named “Mound Metalcraft” which was a garden tool company located in Mound, MN and operated out of an old schoolhouse.

On August 29th, local musician and artist Skeet Sirmons was injured in a bicycle accident, resulting in a spinal cord injury that requires an extended stay in a rehabilitation facility in Lincoln, NE.
