Douglas Dean “Doug” Leonard, of Wellington, Kansas, passed away at his home on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the age of 51.

Doug was born the son of Jerry and Caroline (Schultz) Leonard on February 4, 1972 in Wellington, Kansas.

On October 17, 1998, Doug and Johnna Buckle were united in marriage in Wellington, Kansas, celebrating 24 years together.

Doug had many hobbies including camping, fishing, and hunting deer, coon, and ducks. Cars and music played an especially large part in his life as well. In the end, nothing was as important to Doug as his family that he loved and adored. Doug had a wonderful sense of humor and was always pulling pranks on everyone around him. He was always willing to help out a friend and family in need and was known for his generosity. Doug will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Johnna Leonard; children: Chaney Leonard, Wesley Leonard, and Paige Leonard; parents, Jerry and Caroline Leonard; sisters, Misty (Kenneth) Coatney, and Melisa (Jose) Castaneda.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Wes and Lucille Leonard and maternal grandparents, Albert and Viola Schultz.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 10, 2023 in the chapel of Cornejo Funeral Home & Crematory at 1030 Mission Rd. in Wellington, Kansas. Interment will follow at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Wellington, Kansas. Memorial contributions can be given in his name to the Doug Leonard Children’s Education Fund, c/o Bank of Commerce. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
