LORI JEAN GRAGERT

Lori Jean Gragert passed away on November 6, 2024, at the age of 49. She was born in Arkansas City, Kansas on March 25, 1975, to Stephen Mark Gragert and Jean Gragert. Lori was the first daughter of five girls. She grew up in Arkansas City, Kansas until the family moved to Oxford, Kansas in 1987. She was active in Girl Scouts achieving the Gold and Silver Awards. Lori was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved the years teaching Primary Sunday school. She had served her church by being in the Young Women’s and Relief Society when not helping in the primary. She graduated from Oxford High School and Seminary through her church. She played in the band and sang in the choir. She was a member of the Kayettes club. Lori attended Cowley County Community College attaining an Associate in early childhood education. She attended Southwestern College. After a break, Lori went back to school and attained her Bachelor’s degree and began teaching preschool at Lincoln, Futures, and recently at Kennedy Elementary in Wellington, Kansas. Lori was an avid Harry Potter fan being a Gryffindor. She indulged her nephews in anything Harry Potter. She will be remembered for always having a book with her and reading whenever she had the chance. Lori was preceded in death by her grandparents Leroy Walker, Betty Mae Gragert, and Wesley R. Gragert. She was also preceded in death by her nephew Ayden W. Ethridge. She is survived by her parents Stephen Mark Gragert and Jean Gragert, grandmother, Frances L. Walker, her four sisters, Jill R. Gillett, Cristy L. Bednarz, Stacy L. Dobbins, and Amy J. Bekemeyer, and her niece and nephews, Jason M. Bednarz, Tristan Gregg, Emma Gregg, and Noah Dobbins. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Cremation and internment will be handled by Oxford Funeral Services. Memorials are requested to be to Futures, Wellington, Kansas, or Kennedy Elementary School. A celebration of Life will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1003 West 22nd Street, Wellington, Kansas 67152 on November 23, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. A luncheon for the family will occur at 11:00 a.m. and a visitation following.
