Billy Wayne Herl, 50, of Winfield, passed away Wednesday morning, January 24th at his home.
Born May 4, 1967, he was the son of Wendlen and Shirley (Miller) Herl. He was raised and received his education in the Wichita area, graduating from Wichita South East High School in 1988. Billy worked for many years as a newspaper carrier for the Wellington Daily News. He also worked mowing lawns and was a very talented handy man. He enjoyed dirt track racing with his brothers, listening to music, watching WWE Wrestling and cleaning his house. He was very active on FaceBook and loved his animals, especially his dog, Turbo.
His family includes: his mother, Shirley Herl of Wichita; his brothers, Terry Herl and wife, Barbara of Wichita; Timmy Herl and wife, Mary of Wichita; Ted Herl of Emporia; Tyler Herl and wife, Diane of Wichita; Todd Herl and wife, Connie of Enid, OK; David Herl of Wichita; Rex Herl and wife, Anita of Kerrville, TX; Ricky Herl of Wichita; Bobby Sweeden of Wichita; his sister: Charlotte McCaughtry of Winfield; his nephews: Teejay Herl and wife, Angie of Winfield; Josh Herl of Winfield; Jacob Herl of Winfield; and many other nephews, nieces and cousins.
In addition to his father, Billy was preceded in death by a brother, Tony Herl.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established in Billy’s name for the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
