It was one of the worst kinds of surprises Tuesday evening when Tom and Kathy Riggs discovered the damage done to the retaining wall at Wheat Country Car Wash.
“It was a hit and run,” Tom says. “They came down the hill and hit the retaining wall pretty straight on.” Tom says the incident occurred about 7:20 p.m.
A witness said the vehicle is described as either a Buick Enclave or Chevrolet Traverse. It has aftermarket tinted windows on front driver, passenger, and part of the front windows. There was also a windshield stripe that came down about a third of the way. It has polished alloy wheels and is a newer model.
Damage to the retaining wall is estimated at $10,000.
If anyone has information on a white mid-sized SUV with dark tinted windows, please contact the Wellington Police Department or Tom and Kathy Riggs.
