Corinne (Davis) Caples 90, passed away on August 21st. She was born on November 19, 1927 to Hattie Cox Davis and Henry Davis in Norton County. She moved from Norton County to Harper County as a child and graduated from Attica High School. Corinne married Warren Gift Caples on December 8, 1946 in Wellington, where they lived, raised their family and celebrated 64+ years of marriage. She was a lifetime resident of Kansas. Corinne worked at Slate Creek Manor nursing home as an office clerk from 1967 until she retired in 1987. She was active in the First United Methodist Church in Wellington. She loved working in her garden growing and canning green beans and tomatoes. She also loved her flower garden of roses and flower baskets. In retirement she kept Warren busy building containers to grow her flowers. She loved to fish and was very active in a bowling league after retirement. They also loved to travel, often visiting their daughters at wherever their lives took them. She is survived by three daughters, Pat Diem of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Carol Wells and her husband Jay of Wichita, and Pam Caples and her husband Bill Carpenter of Springfield, Oregon; three grandchildren, Morgan Wells Stremmel and her husband Josh of Wichita, Aaron Carpenter and Kelsey Caples of Springfield, Oregon; three sisters, Betty Totten Kernohan of Wellington, Delores McDaniel of Attica and Pauline Hacker of Derby; and a host of nieces and nephews. Corinne was preceded in death by her husband Warren Gift Caples in 2011; her parents; three sisters Lorraine Wolfe, Louise Applegate and IolaDupey; and three brothers Harvey Davis, Richard Davis and Orland Davis. Services for Corinne will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 19, 2018 in the First United Methodist Church, Wellington. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to First United Methodist Church in Wellington or the Wellington Humane Society. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
