Project to replace bridge over Arkansas River on the west side of Arkansas City will affect traffic in Sumner County for a year and a half
The Kansas Department of Transportation announced the upcoming replacement of the US-166 Bridge over the Arkansas River on the west side of Arkansas City, starting in early January. The project is expected to take a year and a half to complete. During that time, motorists will have to find another route to get into Arkansas City coming in from Sumner County.
According to Deb Gruver with the Kansas Department of Transportation, "We expect the $6,368,390 project to begin in early January. A.M. Cohron & Son, Inc. of Emporia is the prime contractor. The project has 250 working days. There will be a detour on state routes."
